WHAT IS YCAMP?

During the peak of COVID-19 in 2021, YCAT's Climate Extracurricular Education (CEE) branch launched its biggest initiative: Youth Climate Action Midsummer Program (YCAMP). The goal? To teach and inspire the next generation about the environment and climate change through interactive and engaging lessons.

This free online program is geared towards rising 4th through 7th graders in the United States. Every summer, YCAMP covers new environmental topics- from biodiversity to how countries face climate change. High school and college volunteers that are interested in the environment and education research new and innovative lesson plans that utilize art projects and video games to make YCAMP lessons interactive. These volunteers also help teach the kids alongside the Director of CEE, Alyssa-Leigh Alcantara.
